The Department of Surgery at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks an academic trauma surgeon for the Section of Acute Care Surgery. The incumbent is responsible for the clinical care of patients in trauma, critical care, and emergency general surgery as well as participation in student, resident, and post-graduate teaching. Clinical and laboratory research opportunities and support are available. The selected candidate will further scholarly achievements with the goal of promotion within the School of Medicine and the University. Rank and tenure status are dependent upon qualifications.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background / training in the provision of care to trauma, emergency general surgery, and critically ill patients. Clinical opportunities in elective general surgery may be available based on the clinical expertise and interest of the candidate, but are not required. Enthusiastic participation in student and resident training and education is essential. Interested individuals must possess a strong interest in a career in academic medicine as demonstrated through past experience with research or teaching pursuits and a prepared proposal for an academic career path.

Qualifications
Candidates must have a Medical Degree and be board-certified or board-eligible in General Surgery and Critical Care.
