Job Description

The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Enrollment Services department is seeking an Admissions Counselor. If you are interested we invite you to apply!

This position promotes UAA through outreach and presentations to prospective students, families, and community groups. It serves as the main contact for students in an assigned territory, guiding them from inquiry to enrollment, and provides general admissions support to others. The role requires in- and out-of-state travel, occasional evening and weekend work, and includes managing travel arrangements and expenses. Additional duties include providing customer service in the Enrollment Services lobby, responding to inquiries, and supporting admissions operations and special projects as assigned.

To thrive in this position, a candidate should demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, including prior public speaking experience. Success in this role requires the ability to engage with diverse populations and effectively support a wide range of students, including first-generation, low-income, transfer, and non-traditional students. Familiarity with college admissions processes, academic programs, and student support services—particularly at UAA—is essential. The ideal candidate will have experience in a data-driven admissions environment, be comfortable with reporting and data entry, and possess strong decision-making skills and self-motivation. Proficiency with CRM systems such as Salesforce and the ability to travel in and out of state, including to remote Alaska locations, is also important.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in related field and two years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

*Professional or student work experience with admissions other area related to higher education, or customer service.

Position Details:

This is a full-time, term-funded, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and  full employee benefits package . UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the  UA Staff Salary Schedule , Grade 78, based on education and experience.

Applicant must possess an unrestricted Alaska driver's license or be able to obtain an unrestricted Alaska driver's license within 60 days of accepting the job.
