The Headlines :  

In the role of Consumer Science Specialist working in Milwaukee, WI, you will be a part of the R&D team. You will deliver consumer technical insights (CTI) to inform product and packaging development decisions, helping to develop differentiated products that win in the marketplace. You will conduct hands-on CTI research in the pursuit of great tasting, high quality beer, alcoholic products beyond beer, and non-alcoholic products. The ideal candidate has strong qualitative research expertise with a passion for storytelling; experience with quantitative research methodologies; is a great communicator; works very well in a highly collaborative team and enjoys finding opportunities to translate consumers’ needs into technical taste specifications and helps to develop products that delight our consumers.

  This position reports to the Consumer Technical Insights Manager and works very closely with consumer insights, innovation, and product development teams .

 

The Responsibilities:  

 

  • Collaborate with marketing insights, innovation, and product development teams to provide product insights at the early stages of product development to: 1) help the team to understand better the sensory spaces captured by current market products and discover the potential opportunities (white spaces) for MCBC innovation; 2) guide direction for the development of new products, define key attributes’ targets, and provide input on the final technical design brief.
  • Collaborate closely with development specialists during the product development phase to help develop products to meet the brief. Conduct technical screening to help identify the top prototypes based on how they deliver against the agreed technical design brief.
  • Collaborate with marketing insights and 3rd party vendors for consumer test planning and design, lead technical execution of consumer product testing including product acquisition, placement, field work, data analysis and interpretation to ensure the best outcome for the business and consumer testing results that are actionable for the new product development team.
  • Provide recommendations for further liquid optimisation, further consumer testing and / or recommendation of products to commercialise once liquid development is complete. 

The Other Qualifications: 

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Consumer Science, Sensory Science, Food Science, Social Science or similar discipline; MS or PhD in Consumer or Sensory Science preferred.
  • Experienced moderator with a Moderator Certificate preferred (e.g., from RIVA, Burke Institute)
  • Min of 5 years Consumer Science, Consumer Research or Consumer Insights experience in Alcohol Beverage or consumer goods industry preferred.
  • Expert understanding, working knowledge, and development of consumer qualitative methodologies used to assess product performance delivering against concepts/consumer expectations.
  • Ability to develop and implement new qualitative methodologies and research tools to gain insight into product attribute performance and consumer preferences.
