Our client, a well-established Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) company, is seeking a skilled Senior Accountant with a focus on Inventory and Cost Accounting. This role will play a key part in managing inventory processes, analyzing cost variances, and supporting operational teams to drive efficiency and accuracy. It’s an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with CPG, retail, or manufacturing experience to step into a visible role with direct impact on business performance.
Responsibilities:
Lead month-end close activities, including expense accruals, journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and financial analysis across Operations.
Streamline inventory and cost accounting processes through automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with Operations and Distribution teams on costing, PPV variance analysis, inventory adjustments, and reconciliations.
Develop and maintain SOPs to ensure strong internal controls and accurate inventory reporting.
Prepare and deliver inventory and cost reporting packages for management, providing insights into trends and variances.
Oversee quarterly and annual physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and related reconciliations.
Partner with senior leadership to identify process improvements, strengthen controls, and support system implementations.
Contribute to ad hoc projects and other accounting initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).
3+ years of accounting experience, ideally with exposure to inventory or cost accounting.
Experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), retail, manufacturing, or distribution strongly preferred.
Proficient in financial analysis, account reconciliations, and preparation of financial reports.
Public accounting and industry mix a plus.
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs required; macros a plus).
ERP experience (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar) strongly preferred.
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and quantitative skills.
Collaborative team player with the ability to adapt quickly and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
