SUMMARY:
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining assigned areas of the campus on a daily basis and assisting with special events as assigned by the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds. Non-exempt, 12-month, full-time position, afternoon shift.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Inform supervisor of maintenance problems found
● Proper operation and maintenance of custodial equipment including but not limited to: ○Floor machines, i.e. vacuums, scrubbers
○ Mops and mop buckets
○ Floor, wall, window squeegees
○ Ladders, step stools
● Basic understanding of safety issues related to custodial work
○ Safety equipment for personal safety
○ Building occupant safety
○ Public safety
● Clean and maintain all custodial stations: classrooms, office spaces, restrooms, entry ways, and work spaces
● Collect trash, garbage and recycling materials and dispose in proper receptacles ● Dusting, high, intermediate and low areas
● Sweeping, dust mopping, dry mopping, damp mopping, vacuuming
● Shampooing, scrubbing, steam cleaning, stripping, waxing and sealing ● Refilling supplies; paper dispensers, soap dispensers
● Cleaning and disinfecting urinals, commodes, wash basins, partitions, windows and walls
● Transport small equipment, boxes, supplies or furniture between various department work areas
● Set up, move, store tables and chairs in designated areas for events
● Respond quickly to custodial messages
● Locking up of all building areas including Final lock up of building at night ● Transportation of students in school vehicles
● Traffic monitoring as required
● Perform other duties as assigned, including cross-departmental duties.
REQUIREMENTS:
● Minimum of four years custodial experience
● Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds
● Ability to bend and kneel, crawl, reach, move from place to place
● Ability to climb and work on ladders
● Ability to work independently with minimal or general supervision
● Good communication skills i.e. ability to understand written and verbal instructions and the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
● Valid CA driver’s license with clean driving record
