Under direction from the Director and the Associate Director of the Special Education Division, the Education Administrator I manages the Programs and Partnerships Unit (PPU). Responsibilities include providing state and federal special education administrative, policy and programmatic leadership; managerial direction; and supervision of education program consultants, analysts, and support staff for the program responsibilities assigned. The PPU responsibilities include: compliance with Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) provisions and state statutes for programs managed, support with the annual state budget and legislative process, create or maintain internal and external relationships and resources with general education programs and agencies to align services and improve outcomes for students with disabilities. Additional responsibilities include: providing guidance to staff with interagency agreements, contracts, data analysis, grants, statewide agency initiatives, and program evaluation. The PPU staff partner with units across the Special Education Division and Department, state agencies, Special Education Local Plan Areas, local educational agencies, and universities to support work based learning, postsecondary transition planning, and family empowerment centers.
