Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Accounting Administrator I, the Accounting Analyst in a learning capacity within this first journey-level classification will analyze a variety of accounting data to help assist other staff with providing estimates of reimbursements and revenues to determine and manage necessary cash flow to support financial operations of the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR).

Working Conditions

This position is located at:

1416 9th St,
Sacramento, CA

The office is located in Downtown Sacramento within walking distance to the regional transit: light rail and buses, local amenities, and walkable to the State Capitol Park. The office was newly renovated in 2025 and provides an onsite gym/fitness center, drinking water and water bottle refill stations, bicycle racks, and a small food market.

The incumbent works 40 hours per week in an office setting in a cubicle with natural and artificial lighting. The building is air-conditioned building with elevator access. Typical work requires prolonged use of a computer, calculator, telephone, and interaction with co-workers. Occasional short-term same-day travel in the nearby local area be needed to attend job-related meetings, and job-related training classes.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:


  • Experience with the accounting functions of Cashiering and/or Accounts Receivable
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Knowledge of the policies listed in State Administrative Manual (SAM) pertaining to accounting
  • Ability to determine program compliance with laws, rules, and regulations
  • Ability to maintain high ethical standards in completing all assignments and projects
  • Ability to telework
