Job Description
Kuehne+Nagel is looking for an Export Dock Clerk in Haltom City, Texas, who is organized and can easily transition throughout the workday from the warehouse floor to a desk or office area. This is a startup site so it requires a great deal of flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly to change is a must.
Your Role
As an Export Dock Clerk, operational duties include coordination with shippers, truckers, and K+N offices for the export of shipments. The complete process of shipment includes arranging for pick-up or inland transportation, booking, document preparation (bill of lading, K+N invoicing, certificate of origin, export declaration and/or AES, if applicable) forwarding, follow-up with tracking and tracing to final destination and data quality requirement. You will work Monday - Friday, 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm. The wage is $22.50 per hour.
Your Responsibilities
- Coordinate with shippers and truckers for the export of shipments
- Process of shipment includes arranging for pick-up or inland transportation, booking and forwarding
- Prepare document including bill of lading, invoicing, certificate of origin, export declaration or AES, and follow-up with tracking and tracing to final destination
- Maintain communication with vendor, shipper, customer, carrier, and operations by phone and emails
- Negotiate cost-effective rates with service providers to ensure maximum profitability
- Maintain SOP (standard operating procedures) and customer profiles including key contacts, special requirements, contract rates and preferred routings, services and carriers
- Immediately report problems, operation disputes or discrepancies to operations
- Read and work in accordance with Quality Management Work Instructions and QHSE procedures (ISO9001)
- Resolve billing discrepancies and discrepancies against client SOP's
Your Skills and Experiences
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in air freight or export shipping
- Good working knowledge of domestic and international geography including countries and major cities
- Basic knowledge of U.S. Administration Regulations (FAA, FMC, EAR, Hazmat) and other government agency requirements
