Job Description

Salary: $132,000 - 198,000 per year Requirements:

  • We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in data engineering tools, specifically Python, R, and SQL, for data processing. Proficiency in AWS services, particularly S3, Redshift, FSx, Glue, and Lambda, is essential. The ideal applicant will have extensive experience with relational databases, data modeling, and database design. Familiarity with unstructured database technologies such as NoSQL, containerization (Docker and EKS/Kubernetes), and one or more R&D research processes and regulatory requirements is also preferred. Exposure to healthcare data standards (CDISC, HL7, FHIR, SNOMED CT, OMOP, DICOM) and big data technologies is a plus. Knowledge of machine learning operations (MLOps) and strong problem-solving skills are important. Excellent communication skills are crucial for effective collaboration with stakeholders, alongside experience in an Agile development environment.
Responsibilities:
  • In this role, I will be responsible for supporting complex and leading singular projects that relate to data engineering requirements and initiatives throughout Jazz Research and Development. My essential functions will include designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines to process R&D data from various sources, which may include Clinical Trials, Medical Devices, Pre-Clinical, Omics, and Real World Data, utilizing the AWS technology platform. I will create and optimize ETL/ELT processes for structured and unstructured data using Python, R, SQL, AWS services, and additional tools. My tasks will also involve building and maintaining data repositories using AWS S3 and FSx technologies, establishing data warehousing solutions with Amazon Redshift, and developing standard data models. In addition, I will implement data quality frameworks, validation processes, and KPIs to ensure the accuracy and consistency of data pipelines, along with data versioning and lineage tracking to support compliance and audit requirements. Moreover, I will maintain documentation for data processes, architectures, and workflows, employ modern software development best practices, and foster collaboration with R&D researchers, data scientists, and stakeholders to align data requirements with solutions in a global working model. Maintaining compliance with data privacy regulations such as HIPAA and GDPR is paramount, and I may also be required to develop and support data literacy training across R&D.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Life Sciences, or similar scientific fields; a Master’s Degree is preferred. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in data engineering is required, with at least 1.5 years focused on healthcare, research, or clinical data.

In terms of physical demands, the role involves occasional mobility within the office environment, routinely sitting for extended periods, and consistently operating a computer, printer, telephone, and other similar office equipment.
