Senior Python/Django Engineer Location: Dallas, TX
Position Summary
We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Software Engineer to help build and scale our industry-leading data intelligence platform. Youâll play a key role in delivering core backend and frontend systems using Django, Vue.js, and SQL, with infrastructure and services running on Microsoft Azure.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams including product, analytics, and infrastructure to bring new features to life, optimize system performance, and contribute to a robust engineering culture. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about creating scalable software that drives real business value.
In addition to your technical responsibilities, your daily routine will include participating in standup meetings, managing work items based on your capacity, collaborating with the teamâs growing technology team to define new projects or initiatives, and engage in development activities. In addition to traditional data engineering tasks, you will directly interact with the teams developing the tools we utilize, enabling you to provide direct product feedback and witness your input driving changes in the products over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services using Django and Django REST Framework
- Build intuitive, responsive frontends using Vue.js and modern JavaScript tooling
- Write efficient SQL queries and manage relational data models in Azure-hosted databases
- Collaborate with DevOps and cloud teams to deploy scalable, secure, and maintainable applications on Azure
- Work closely with product owners to break down complex problems into clear technical requirements and deliverables
- Contribute to system design discussions, architecture reviews, and best practices for secure, maintainable software
- Review code, mentor peers, and promote a collaborative engineering culture
- Participate in Agile development processes including sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives
Key Skills & Expertise
- Backend Development : Advanced experience with Python and Django, including Django REST Framework
- Frontend Development : Proficiency in Vue.js, component-based design, and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
- SQL & Data Modeling : Strong SQL skills and experience with schema design and data optimization
- Azure Cloud : Working knowledge of deploying applications and managing services in Microsoft Azure
- Software Engineering Best Practices : CI/CD, version control (Git), unit testing, and code reviews
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- 3+ years with Django or similar Python web frameworks
- 2+ years with Vue.js or comparable modern frontend frameworks
- Strong understanding of relational databases and performance tuning
- Experience working in cloud environments, ideally Azure
- Familiarity with containerization (e.g., Docker) and DevOps tools is a plus
- Experience working with Lloydâs of London bordereaux data is a strong plus, particularly in contexts involving ingestion, validation, and transformation of complex insurance data sets.
