Job Position Summary

The Ocean Export Agent is responsible for managing district ocean export operations and ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of all related documentation. This role works closely with sales, account managers, customers, carriers, and agents to deliver exceptional service and efficient export operations.

Job Title: Ocean Export Agent

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Pay Rate: $24/hour

Reports To: Department Manager/District Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily ocean export operations and prepare all associated documentation.
• Work closely with sales and account managers to respond quickly to customer needs.
• Communicate professionally with customers, carriers, and agents to ensure timely updates and accurate information.
• Coordinate bookings and documentation with carriers, co-loaders, shippers, and sales offices.
• Prepare documentation in accordance with the Shipper’s Letter of Instruction (SLI) and/or Letter of Credit, ensuring accuracy of:
• Shipper/consignee information, marks, and numbers
• Weight, volume, and dimensions
• Inland cartage and freight charges
• Goods description, clauses, and delivery terms
• Third-party documents
• Ensure accurate billing by completing accounting procedures and data entries properly.
• Verify payable and receivable documents, ensuring they are completed accurately and forwarded on time.
• Complete all outbound moves, including ITs and permits to transfer.
• Collect necessary documents and charges prior to releasing freight; verify carrier invoices before approving payment.
• Trace lost freight and shortages; follow up with carriers and notify all involved parties. File preliminary claims when necessary.
• Maintain organized files containing all required documentation in proper sequence.
• Track cargo with carriers/co-loaders to confirm “on board” status at both origin and transshipment points.
• Complete all tracking and billing milestones in line with company guidelines.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Department or District Manager.
