Job Description

Adaptive Launch Solutions (ALS) is a Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB), offering full comprehensive benefits.  ALS provides pico, nano, micro, mini, and small satellites full launch integration services on Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV), Medium Launch Vehicles (MLVs) and Small Launch Vehicles (SLVs). On February 8, 2019 the U.S. Air Force (USAF) Space and Missile Systems Centers (SMC) Launch Enterprise Directorate awarded the multi-year Launch Manifest Systems Integrator (LMSI) Contract.  As part of the LMSI team, ALS will deliver capabilities and integration approaches that establish U.S. government enterprise-wide capability for small satellite delivery to space.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Senior Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer is a dedicated role initially supporting a USG Government small satellite launch integration program providing daily guidance and oversight of a team of engineers, technicians and vendors. Specifically, the Senior Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer will:

  • Provide leadership and execution of production and operations efforts supporting the design, assembly, test, and qualification of small satellite rideshare systems
  • Oversee and execute the development of specifications used in the procurement process for flight, ground, and facilities hardware and systems. The ME will direct the Supply Chain Engineer to ensure that recurring insight, oversight and validation occurs of vendor designs, fabrication processes, and test procedures meet Customer and ALS requirements
  • Support recurring internal contractor team meetings and customer team meetings on a recurring basis per direction of the Contractor Program Manager (CPM). Supervise the Torrance Systems Integration Lab (SIL) operations and maintenance efforts and deliver and ensure that assembly, test and transportation procedures are conducted in compliance with all project and facilities safety requirements. The ME will supervise the technician staff functioning in the SIL
  • Ensure production and operations plans and procedures are developed and executed in compliance with the program Quality Management and System Safety Protection Plans. The ME will manage Action Item, Minor Non-Conformance, and Major Non-conformance identification, planning and closeouts
  • Manage the internal team inspection and certification of all MMC hardware employed on the program. The ME shall logistically support and enable the involvement of USG resources to perform inspection function of both team and vendor facilities
  • Develop, manage and brief material status at major Program reviews and Customer/Stakeholder briefings

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. or higher Engineering Degree with ten (10) years of space launch integration experience preferred
  • Must be able to obtain TS/SCI Clearance
  • Salary Range: Commensurate with Experience
  • Relocation: This position is offered ALS basic relocation package from within continental United States to the Torrance, California area
