Job Description

Job Title: Remote Sign Language Interpreter

We are seeking a skilled and passionate remote Sign Language Interpreter to join an inclusive education team. This position is designed for an experienced professional who is committed to providing an accessible and supportive learning environment for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with a strong understanding of American Sign Language (ASL) and a dedication to promoting effective communication within the classroom.

Job Description:
Provide comprehensive remote ASL interpretation services for students of all grade levels.
Work closely with teachers and staff to ensure smooth communication in virtual classrooms.
Interpret academic content, school-wide communications, and other relevant materials.
Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold high ethical standards in all professional interactions.

Key Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in ASL Interpretation or a related field (or equivalent experience).
EIPA score of 3.5 or higher.
Native or near-native proficiency in ASL and English.
Demonstrated experience in educational interpreting, particularly in K-12 environments.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with educators, students, and families.
High level of comfort with remote interpreting platforms and technology.
Ability to work independently while fostering a collaborative team spirit.
A strong commitment to continuous professional development and growth.

Responsibilities:
Provide real-time ASL interpretation for online classes, school events, and other educational activities.
Facilitate communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and hearing individuals.
Review curriculum content and specialized terminology to ensure accurate interpretation.
Adapt interpretation techniques to meet the unique needs of individual students.
Participate in Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings and parent-teacher conferences when necessary.
Promote awareness and understanding of deaf culture within the school community.
Maintain accurate records of interpreting services and student interactions to ensure compliance and support student progress.
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $ 66,500.00 Per Year
