Staff Accountant – Construction Accounting (Entry-Level to Mid-Level)
Location: Bethesda, MD

A respected general contracting firm in the DMV area is seeking a Staff Accountant to support its accounting operations. This is a great opportunity for an early-career professional to gain hands-on experience in construction accounting, working alongside a collaborative finance team. Key Responsibilities

• Assist with accounts payable and subcontractor payment processing
• Support accounts receivable and cash receipt entries
• Help maintain subcontractor documentation (e.g., lien waivers, contracts)
• Assist with monthly reconciliations and invoice workflows
• Contribute to sales and use tax filings
• Participate in weekly check runs and audit preparation
• Ensure accuracy and compliance with internal controls
• Collaborate with project teams and accounting leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• 1–3 years of accounting experience (internships or project accounting a plus)
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Willingness to learn construction accounting systems and practices

• Oracle J.D. Edwards AS400 World
• Tungsten Workflow
• Oracle Textura Payment Management
• Autodesk Project Management
• Microsoft Outlook

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Office-based with moderate noise levels
• Occasional lifting (up to 20 lbs), stair climbing, and use of standard office equipment
• Eligible for telework per company policy with supervisor approval
