Job Description:

Alba Vineyard is a family-run estate vineyard and winery located in the picturesque Warren Hills AVA of New Jersey. As a pioneer of high-density viticulture on the East Coast, we strive to produce world-class, vineyard-driven wines that reflect the unique character of our limestone river valley. Our focus on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Cabernet Franc, for both still and sparkling wines, has cemented our role as a leader in this exciting emerging wine region.

We are passionate about craftsmanship and driven by a relentless pursuit of excellence in the vineyard and cellar. This is not just a job—it is a lifelong journey for those who share our enduring passion for wine.

We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and creative Winemaker to join our team. This is a dynamic role with plenty of room for growth and creative freedom for the right individual who is ready to make an indelible mark on our wines and vineyard.

Roles and Responsibilities:
•  Oversee all aspects of winery operations from crush to bottle, ensuring the highest standards of quality.
•  Maintain and organize the current barrel program.
•  Develop and manage blending and tasting sessions with a focus on crafting exceptional wines.
•  Collaborate with the family to refine winemaking strategies and achieve long-term quality goals.
•  Conduct ongoing trials to drive incremental improvements in winemaking techniques.
•  Act as a winery ambassador, representing the brand at on- and off-premise events and engaging with customers.
•  Provide leadership in vineyard management decisions to align wine quality with terroir expression.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•  Excellent palate and confidence in discussing wine profiles and blends.
•  Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
•  Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
•  Naturally inquisitive with a willingness to conduct trials and experiments.
•  Ability to demonstrate discretion, good judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
•  Strong written, oratory, and presentation skills.

Qualifications:
•  Degree in viticulture/enology from a university or accredited winemaking program.
•  5+ years of professional winemaking experience.
•  Proficiency in cellar operations and premium winemaking techniques.
•  Valid Driver’s License and personal transportation.
•  Ability to lift and move 50 lbs repeatedly.
•  Ability to work weekends and long hours during harvest.
•  Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Excel.
•  Fluency in Spanish or French is a plus.
•  Currently authorized to work in the US.

Benefits:
•  Wine Education & Industry Exposure: Attend leading wine industry events, educational workshops, and tastings to stay on the cutting edge of winemaking trends.
•  Relocation Assistance: Support for moving expenses if relocating from outside the region.
•  Competitive Compensation & Benefits: Includes health benefits, a performance-based bonus structure, and potential for profit-sharing on custom crush client incentives for long-term investment in the vineyard’s success.

How to Apply:
If you are a passionate and driven winemaker ready to make an indelible impact on a family-run winery poised for growth, we want to hear from you. Please submit your cover letter and resume for consideration. We look forward to embarking on this exciting journey with you.
