Position Overview:

Located in Coralville, IA, the role of a Custom Solutions Automation Engineer within the Synthetic Biology value stream awaits a proactive and passionate individual.

Key Responsibilities:

• Innovate: Craft and deploy tailored automation systems within the Synthetic Biology manufacturing framework for diverse customer projects.
• Refine: Establish protocols for the efficient use of liquid handlers and associated instruments.
• Maintain: Engage in diagnostics and routine maintenance to ensure the seamless functionality of automated setups.
• Educate: Deliver training to users and tech teams, facilitating process handovers across departments when needed.
• Monitor: Develop internal performance metrics and preventative care systems for automation tools.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in related fields such as science or engineering, or a comparable blend of education and experience.
• Background in integrating instruments or automating lab processes.
• Hands-on experience with liquid handlers and mechanized lab equipment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong skills in Excel.
• Proven teamwork capabilities in collaborative settings.

Preferred Expertise:

• Familiarity with molecular biology, molecular cloning, and NGS techniques.
• Programming prowess with Echo, Janus, Biomek, or similar platforms.
• Proficiency in object-oriented or scripting languages.
• Data analysis proficiency, including using JMP.
