Position Title: Director of Music Ministries (Music Director)

Employment Type: Part Time (10-15 hours), Exempt, Salary

Salary: Range $18,000 - 25,000, commensurate with experience. (PTO & Holiday pay accrued).

Role Location: In-person office with hybrid flexibility as approved by supervisor. Essential weekly choir rehearsals, weekly worship services, as well as special services, weddings, and funerals as directed by the supervisor. 

Position Summary: 

The Church Music Director leads the music ministry, enhancing worship through thoughtfully planned music that aligns with church themes. This role involves directing choirs and ensembles, selecting diverse music, and nurturing volunteers to create an inclusive and inspiring worship environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about church music, skilled in leadership, and committed to fostering spiritual growth through music.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Collaborate with clergy and program staff for a unified worship experience for the congregation.
2. Direct the Adult Choir and seek opportunities to develop a Bell Choir.
3. Lead rehearsals and select music for choirs, chimes, and other instrumentalists.
4. Arrange additional musicians for Christmas, Easter, and special events.
5. Coordinate with children’s & youth music programs when invited for a cohesive music ministry.
6. Support Vacation Bible School and other church events through music.
7. Actively & regularly recruit choir members, soloists, instrumentalists, and ensembles.
8. Manage the music budget for supplies, music purchases, and guest musicians.
9. Oversee music staff like accompanist and guest musicians. 
10. Ensure & communicate music leadership coverage during planned absences well in advance, to include a standing short-notice coverage plan for when illness or emergency may arise.
11. Attend Worship Team Meetings as schedule allows in consultation with supervisor.
12. Perform other duties that enhance the church’s music ministry as assigned by supervisor.
