**Job Title:** Oracle Database Administrator **Location:** Onsite: Morrisville, NC, USA **Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled **Oracle Database Administrator (DBA)** to manage and optimize our enterprise database systems. This role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining Oracle databases, ensuring high availability, security, and performance. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to support mission-critical applications in a dynamic environment. **In this role, you will** **Database Installation & Configuration** + Install and maintain Oracle database software across multiple environments. + Create and manage storage structures with robust security features. + Alter storage structures to meet evolving business requirements. **User Management & Security** + Set up and manage database user accounts and roles. + Implement and regularly update database security protocols to ensure compliance. + Manage authentication and access control policies to safeguard data integrity. **Performance Monitoring & Tuning** + Monitor database performance and resource utilization using Oracle tools. + Perform tuning and optimization to ensure efficient query execution and system stability. **Backup & Recovery** + Develop and implement autonomous backup strategies. + Manage recovery procedures to prevent data loss and ensure business continuity. **Capacity Planning & Maintenance** + Conduct ongoing capacity planning to forecast storage and resource needs. + Apply patches and updates to maintain system health and compliance. **Troubleshooting & Support** + Identify and resolve database performance issues, outages, and technical problems. + Provide technical support and guidance to developers and end-users. + Debug malfunctioning programs affecting database integrity. **Documentation & Training** + Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, changes, and troubleshooting steps. + Train users on accessing and utilizing database resources effectively. **What you'll need to succeed (required skills)** + Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or related field. + Proven experience as an Oracle Database Administrator. + Strong knowledge of Oracle database design, coding, and documentation. + Expertise in database backup procedures, recovery systems, and SQL. + Familiarity with programming languages and APIs. + Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. + Ability to visualize and implement algorithmic structures. **Preferred skills: what will help you stand out** + Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and ASM. + Knowledge of cloud-based Oracle solutions (OCI). + Exposure to performance tuning tools and advanced security features. **Benefits:** Cognizant offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements: + Medical/Dental/Vision/Life Insurance + Paid holidays plus Paid Time Off + 401(k) plan and contributions + Long-term/Short-term Disability + Paid Parental Leave + Employee Stock Purchase Plan At Cognizant, we're eager to meet people who believe in our mission and can make an impact in various ways.
